Excellent condition.
Marks
The bottom is marked '38231' which will be the pattern number, as well as 'CARDINAL PLATE'. Though it is not marked Elkington, the fact that it says Cardinal Plate tells us that it is Elkington, as it is the name of Elkington's quality silverplate line.
- I happen to have also seen this design with the Elkington mark, so there is no doubt of this. Many companies who have been producing pieces for as long as Elkington will change markings so many times that the exact same design can be found with a handful of different markings. This is certainly not unusual.
