A stunning and incredibly rare set of 6 fabulous miniature David-Andersen spoons. They are of course not simply miniature spoons, but in fact salt spoons, though they present as the most beautiful novelty items.
The spoons present in their original box from G. Ellertsen, Bergen, which is in fairly nice condition with internal velour-padding intact.
Though the spoons do have some damage to the enamel, none to the gilding, it almost does not matter. Three are nearly completely intact. The other three have varying degrees of chips, from minor to slightly more.
But the set is enchanting, and for something so rare, those amounts of missing enamel certainly could not keep me away.
Set of Antique David-Andersen Silver Gilt Enamel Salt Spoons in Original Box
Condition
The spoons do have some damage to the enamel, none to the gilding. There is no damage on any of the spoons on the side showing when the gilded bowl faces upwards.
Three are nearly completely intact, in terms of enamel. The other three have varying degrees of chips, from minor to slightly more.
The box is in very nice condition for its age.
Marks
Each spoon is marked, visible only to the squinting eye, on the sides of the spoon, just before the bowl.
One side reads 925 for sterling silver. The other is marked, just barely legibly, D-A for David-Andersen, as well as the well-known antique David-Andersen logo of tongs on top of a hammer.
