This stunning cocktail shaker, which feels as if straight out of a 1930s cocktail party, features a striking engine turned design.

P. H. Vogel & Co. were some of the more prolific and known makers of barware through the 1920s-1950s. Their pieces always feature high quality production and luxurious design. The latter tends to include a nod to the humorous, such as the oversized thimble jiggers boasting their “just a thimbleful” inscription, or the very opposite miniature bucket with “just a bucketful” written on it.

One thing can always be said, and it is that P. H. Vogel pieces are fabulous and all but transport the user straight to the world of Gatsby and his friends.

Though this example does show some wear though the silver to the copper beneath, it does not feel like a flaw. Rather it adds charm and character, reminding us that this very shaker was loved and used to make some amazing cocktails during some wonderful parties.

Generally very good condition. The inside for the actual contents is in great condition. There is some wear-through to the plating, predominantly on the top pieces where the lid is handled most - and where the plating is more fragile, such as on the criss-crossy pattern.

One small dent, though it is small, to the body, just below the upper belt of the pattern.

  • Marks

The bottom is marked 'P. H. V & Co MADE IN ENGLAND 19' (19 being the production number for the piece / pattern).
